Within the vast, shimmering sands of Dubai lies the Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve, a testament to preserving the UAE's natural heritage.

Spanning an impressive 10 percent of Dubai's total area, this expansive reserve is the largest unfenced nature reserve in the UAE. It stands as a sanctuary for diverse wildlife and a beacon of sustainable development, embodying the vision for a harmonious coexistence between nature and progress.

The Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve is a visionary project by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. A Sanctuary for Wildlife: Al Marmoom is teeming with life, offering refuge to an extraordinary array of species. It hosts one of the largest populations of Arabian oryx in Dubai, a species once on the brink of extinction. These majestic animals, with their striking white coats and long, curved horns, are a symbol of conservation success and resilience. The reserve is also renowned for its avian inhabitants, boasting the highest concentration of large flamingos in the UAE. These elegant birds can be seen gracefully wading through the reserve's lakes, adding splashes of pink to the tranquil blue waters. In total, Al Marmoom is home to over 158 species of migratory birds and 204 species of native birds, making it a birdwatcher’s paradise.

A Flourishing Ecosystem: The reserve encompasses over 40 hectares of shrub and fertile land, providing diverse habitats that support its rich biodiversity. It includes more than 10 square kilometers of lakes, notably the Al Qudra Lakes, which serve as vital water sources for many species. These lakes not only sustain the wildlife but also enhance the beauty and ecological value of the reserve. In addition to birds and oryx, the Al Marmoom Reserve is home to several endangered species, reflecting its critical role in regional conservation efforts. The diverse habitats, from desert dunes to lush wetlands, offer a unique environment where flora and fauna can flourish.

Eco-Sustainability and Renewable Energy. Ensuring that the beauty and biodiversity of the desert will be cherished for years to come.

Al Marmoom's commitment to sustainability extends beyond wildlife conservation. It is home to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Park, the region's largest renewable energy project. This facility harnesses the power of the sun to generate clean energy, reducing the carbon footprint and promoting environmental stewardship.

The Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve stands as a shining example of Dubai's commitment to balancing development with environmental preservation. As Dubai continues to grow and evolve, Al Marmoom serves as a reminder of the emirate’s dedication to protecting its natural heritage, ensuring that the beauty and biodiversity of the desert will be cherished for years to come.
